The new STL theme for the 2010-2011 year is "Compelled by Love." Love was the reason God sent Jesus. Compelled by love for His Father, love for His mission, and love for us, Jesus lived a sinless life and died a sacrificial death. Because He loved us, we love Him, and are committed to caring about what He cares about. The message of 2 Corinthians 5:14 resonates in our hearts, "Christ's love compels us." We are compelled by love to reach those in need.
Our Savior's story is the one we are driven to tell. His cause is the reason we pursue our responsibility to provide our missionaries with the "essential transportation and creative communication" tools they need for effective evangelism. Take some time to explore this website, checking out all the resources available to assist you in taking Speed the Light giving to new levels in your church. The Digisource tab will be of particular interest. This powerful interface, previously only available for purchase, is now offered online for free! It includes STL strategies, fund-raising ideas, discipleship tools, STL pics, service plans, and media resources.
"Ten" is an effort to motivate 100,000 students to give $10 per week for 10 weeks culminating on October 10, 2010 (10.10.10). This simple concept could generate $10 million for STL. Check out 10.ag.org to join the movement and to download media related to the endeavor.
Also, set aside a special service to feature the ministry of Speed the Light and highlight those who are giving their lives to serve in mission fields both overseas and in the U.S. STL Day is officially the 3rd Sunday in October (Oct. 17, 2010), but you can choose any day for your missions service. Challenge the adults of your church to partner with students so that our missionaries can be well equipped to carry the gospel message to the lost. Missionaries share testimonies on a regular basis about how STL has impacted their ministry.
